iTunes wonderful

I’ve become pretty obsessed with iTunes as of late. All my music is categorized by album, and I typically listen to full albums. Everytime a new album comes up, I head over to Amazon, search for it, and get the album artwork. Then I drag and drop it into iTunes. It’s quite wonderful seeing a little picture of the album cover in iTunes when a new song comes up. Just another reason why iTunes rocks all other MP3 players.

Also, I just recently discovered Smart Playlists. I just created a “Never Played” playlist. This way, I can actually hear all the stuff I own. And, categorize them, add album artwork, and completely fill out ID3 tags :)

There doesn’t seem to be any OGG plugins for iTunes Windows like there is for the Mac (at least I think there is one for the Mac — a QT plugin, actually). Does anyone know otherwise? In fact, does anyone know of Windoze-specific iTunes sites? Lots of very-cool looking iTunes AppleScripts for our Mac friends :)

This is an interesting blog post about iTunes usage methods. Lots of helpful comments to look for to make my music listening experience that much better.

Update 12:11am 24 nov 2003: the first addon I’ve found for iTunes Windows is “MyTunes” a little app that allows you to actually get the mp3 files of a shared iTunes playlist, rather than just listening to it.

I am not as popular as Reid

In fact, he’s about ten times more popular than I am. Although, I expect my usage stats to soar as I am now the first link in a Google search for “nowacki”.

The Elegant Universe online

I missed “The Elegant Universe” on NOVA on PBS when it aired recently. Luckily, the three-hour series has been put up in Quicktime and Real formats for our viewing pleasure. The book that the series was made from, by Brian Greene, is on my X-Mas list :)

Lunar eclipse pixxx

So we watched the lunar eclipse from our roof last night. It was pretty cool, but unfortunately when I took the pictures there was a sliver of the “real” moon showing through, which kind of overpowers the orangish eclipsed part. I’m still pretty happy with it, considering I took it with my consumer-grade Canon. This is the original file, taken using only the optical zoom. I may try to touch it up some more later. I just cropped it since most of the huge original was, uh, black.

Just a bunch of guys

Signing a bill having to do with women’s health.

Interesting how there’s not a single woman standing around smiling as Bush signs into law the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003. Well, I guess the photographer was a woman. does that count?

And, can someone tell me what’s up with the guy on the far left? What on earth is that white halo around his head?

New picture flood

Well, it’s Sunday again. I guess I’ll post some pics for your viewing enjoyment. I promise I’ll get the gallery up and running soon. Also, I have plans for an online exhibition of my /real/ photography, not just the snaps I shoot everyday :) The first of these exhibits is titled, tentatively, “The Art We Walk On”. I’m pretty excited about it. It probably won’t come to fruition for another coulple of months, but it will happen.
