What they say on the Madrid Metro
When I rode the Metro in Madrid every day last summer, I got to know the automated voices pretty well. I was trying to think of what they said at every stop… Usually it went:
próxima estación: [Station Name]
and if it had a connection:
próxima estación: [Station Name], correspondencia con: [Station Name]
Sometimes the train would stop at a station where the track was curved and not straight, (possibly) creating a hazard whereby an unsuspecting passenger would get his foot stuck between the platform and the train and have it painfully wrenched off as the train pulled away. It went, I think:
Attención: estación en curvo. Ten cuidado para no intoducir el pie entre el coche y andén.
I’ll be racking my brain trying to remember other fun automated tidbits of the Madrid Metro. Ah, memories.
